A Walk Around Studio Souk

This weekend, I discovered a treasure trove right in the middle of Belfast, and I’ve fallen in love already. Having heard the buzz about Studio Souk from its launch party, celebrating the move from Spires Mall to Castle Lane, I couldn’t wait to see it for myself.

Unfortunately, Linzi Rooney (the entrepreneur behind this beautiful venture) and I were like ships that pass in the night, and I had missed her by just 10 minutes when I called in to visit, but having spoken to her before I had a good idea of what it was about.

To put it simply, Studio Souk is a space to showcase the work independent designers, artists, interior designers, jewellers and other creative minds; as well as offering a warm and inspiring workspace for our local talent to work collaboratively and breed creativity and originality. Sounds pretty cool right?

Among the local talents are KAM Kouture, Elaine Taylor and Alice’s Room, but you could quite literally lose hours searching through the dainty pieces of jewellery, vintage clothes and homewares. And what’s more, you can even enjoy a cup of coffee to recharge your batteries. Take a look at my photos from inside the store – you’ll fall in love before you’ve even walked through the door!

  1. I discovered this wee shop when it was in Spires Mall. I could spend hours in it! My favourite finds have been the little handmade clock necklaces and the painted, vintage furniture by Alice’s Room. Most of the designers I’ve come across are happy enough to make things at request. I was so glad when it moved to a bigger space in Castle Lane. Can’t beat it.
