REVIEW: Eléni Skincare Facial at Urban Image, Portadown

Last week was an uncharacteristically busy week for me. It all started on Tuesday, when I spent St Patrick’s Day in Dublin, and only got busier from there with a trip to The MAC, my usual Thursday Zumba class and two nights at Belfast FASHIONWEEK. With such a hectic week, my facial* at Urban Image Hair and Beauty, Portadown, was a welcome hour of pampering.

Upon arriving at the salon, my lovely beauty therapist Ellen was quick to sit me down, offer me a cup of tea or coffee, and start my pre-treatment consultation. After a few moments chat, and a run through the four eléni facials on offer, we decided to opt for the Luxury Turn Back Time Facial.

I know what you’re thinking. What 22 year old needs to turn back time? Don’t worry, the laughter lines haven’t reared their head just yet, but as this was the most alluring facial of the four, Ellen suggested that she could accommodate me by tailoring it to my skin by using an Even Skin Tone mask rather than an Anti-Wrinkle mask.

As for the facial itself, it was bliss. I settled down in a cosy little treatment room, lulled into relaxation by soothing music while Ellen worked her way through the steps of the treatment. My personal favourite parts were the cleanser, which had a refreshing and zesty citrus scent; and the even skin tone mask and the accompanying hand and arm massage, which made me feel EVEN more relaxed (if that’s possible!).

Now a facial can be as relaxing and enjoyable as you like, but as always, the proof is in the pudding. Fortunately for you (not so much for me), my face rose to the occasion prior to my facial. I have a feeling that my face just knows that it’s Belfast FASHIONWEEK, and as a result turns into a blotchy, pimpled, hormonal mess (as you’ll see below) so I was the perfect canvas to test this treatment!

Excuse the crater on my face – you’ll all be very happy to know that it is only about 50% of that size today, and I could no longer haunt a house!

Not only has my skin STARTED to clear up (trust me, miracles take a little longer than 24 hours, so this is pretty good), it is significantly less red and uneven, which is a success in my books. I’d strongly recommend trying one of these facials if you get the chance, especially at Urban Image, Portadown. They made the experience totally relaxing, and if it wasn’t such a jaunt from home, I’d be a regular visitor!

*I was kindly invited to review this facial for Eléni Skincare, but as usual my reviews are totally honest. Many thanks to Emma at Eléni for setting up the treatment, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’d love to get a facial, maybe I should save up to treat myself. In the meantime I’ll use my weekly mud mask. Jean

    1. Yes you definitely should save up, it’s such a nice luxury once in a wee while. But I absolutely love a good Mud Mask too – try out the Body Shops’s warming mask if you are ever searching for a new one. It’s a strange sensation but such a treat!
