6 Monday Moments: 1st June 2015

It’s June! How on earth did that happen? I don’t know if the year is just flying in or if the miserable weather outside is just making me feel like it should still be winter, but anyways. It’s June, and I’m going on holiday in less than two weeks, so this is a good day. It’s been kind of an uneventful few days, but I’ll here are six exciting things that made my week.

1) Pitch Perfect 2

Can you believe I hadn’t seen Pitch Perfect before Saturday evening? For real. In theory, the cheesy music and feel-good factor should have been right up my street, but I took an irrational notion against it until lately, but it’s up there with my favourite feel-good movies now. In fact, it was so good that I went to see Pitch Perfect 2 on Sunday afternoon – btw, hello Shonda Rhimes cameo!

2) H&M shorts

Shorts

I’ve slowly but surely been gathering up my holiday wardrobe, and these little beauties are by far my favourites. They have an elasticated waist, which will be nice and comfy in the blistering Greek heat, and they come in SO many colours and patterns, so I’ve well and truly stocked up. In fact, I own pretty much all of H&M’s summer range now. #sorrynotsorry

3) Sketchers Flex Appeal Trainers

Trainers

So I’m not 100% sure what lies in store for my Greek Island Hopping Adventure in less than two weeks, but I have a feeling that those pretty sunsets in Santorini will involve a bit of a trek, and I am pretty deprived in the trainers department. These were the next best thing to a bright, dream-worthy pair of Nikes, and they were only £44, which didn’t break the bank! What’s more, they have MEMORY FOAM soles – just think of that incredible feeling of a memory foam mattress, and then imagine walking on it – it’s absolutely as good as you’re thinking.

4) Britain’s Got Talent

I told you it hadn’t been a very eventful week, didn’t I? A combination of dieting and saving money for my holidays kept me out of trouble most weeknights last week, so I saw almost all of the Britain’s Got Talent Semi Finals, and of course the final itself. I’m still slightly upset that the French man with the ‘talking dog’ didn’t get through, but as a dog winner, I’m pretty happy that Matisse took the BGT crown.

5) Weight loss

This is a teeny bit of a braggy Monday Moment, but I can’t help it. Since Easter, or possibly shortly after Easter, I have lost a total of 9lbs, just 3lbs off my target for my holidays, and I’m thrilled to bits! Some of you might have read my miserable, wallowing post way back in March, but I’m on track now and feel totally in control. MyFitnessPal has, once again, proven to be the best motivator ever, and I’ve combined my calorie counting with three 70-length swims per week, as well as two Zumba sessions, one aerobics and floor workout and a three-hour salsa dancing session. Long may it continue!

6) Uni reunion

Lauren and Karina at Kellys

In hindsight, I probably should have led my post with this one but lets finish on a high. In the middle of last week (yes, I was partying on a school night, what a rebel, eh?), I went back to Portstewart to visit my surfing buddy Karina before she packed up and left her student house for good. We shopped for bikinis in the rain, went bowling to dry off after multiple torrential showers, ate in the Ramore (which, for anyone unfamiliar with the North Coast, is the restaurant of the gods. Nom nom nom), and went out to Kellys (again, to you unfamiliar folk, this is pretty much your only option for clubbing, so its best to embrace it and say no more). Despite the hoards of underage-looking teens and our state of sobriety, it was a hilarious night.

Well done on the weight loss, I wish I was as motivated as you! I go on holiday in less than 3 weeks and I’m so excited. You look absolutely gorgeous in that picture and I’m extremely jealous about the Ramore. We should definitely meet up for a catch up after our holidays! X

    1. Thanks Debra! I bet you can’t wait for your holiday, make sure to go to The Temple Bar and Danny Boy when you’re in Salou, they’re brilliant wee Irish pubs with live music. You might even get a pint of your beloved Guinness 😉 Yes, we’ll definitely catch up after holidays, I’ve lots to share!! xx
