My Belfast FASHIONWEEK Round-Up

You would think that after a trip to New York, I’d be totally shopped out, right? Not one bit! Whilst on one hand, my timely visit to NYC meant that I had a whole new wardrobe just waiting to be taken out for a spin at Belfast FASHIONWEEK; on the other hand, I was far too broke to handle the length of my FASHIONWEEK wishlist!

On the outfit front, I was determined to make the most of my NYC purchases. On Friday evening, I combined my brand new Michael Kors jeans and my trusty MK clutch with a GUESS gilet that I had picked up in Macy’s to create a simple monochrome look:

On Saturday, I reverted back to my comfort zone and paired a Mango jumpsuit with gold heels and my favourite New York purchase to date – my Michael Kors Selma Bag in gorgeous gold saffiano leather:

Now that we’ve got my outfits sorted, it’s time to take a look at the events themselves. Speaking about the weekend of events, FASHIONWEEK director Cathy Martin said: “The catwalk was alive with a whole host of fabulous trends, including winter brights, suede, tweed and 1970s and 1980s blouse shapes as well as bell-bottoms and fabrics reminiscent of grandma’s sewing box amongst many others. Our audiences witnessed the very best fashion from independently-owned boutiques, local designers and high-street stores – from evening gowns to day wear and jewellery to hats – there truly is no better place to get the ultimate fashion fix.”

When it comes to the trends, I did a little bit of a happy dance when I found that some of the trends from recent seasons were sticking around, giving me the perfect opportunity to dig into my wardrobe and get creative with styling some of my favourite purchases in the past year. In particular, I was delighted to see the amount of fur on the catwalk, as I was devastated at the thought of parting with my faux fur winter coat, purchased last year in TK Maxx for just £50! On the same note, the appearance of jumpsuits on the FASHIONWEEK catwalk meant that my obsession with this trend over the past year or so would not go to waste!

But what fun is a brand new season if you can’t make a few new purchases? So with this in mind, take a look at some of my favourite WCCFW looks!
